Serving as the seat of Emmet County, Petoskey is a large city in northern Michigan, United States, located on Little Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan, and to the north of Walloon Lake. Situated at the mouth of the Bear River, it was incorporated as a city in 1895. The area was originally inhabited by the Odawa. Petoskey is a beautiful coastal resort city with a yatch club, a marina (Petoskey Marina), and many restaurants, hiking trails, and accommodation options. There are several points of interest in the city, such as Crooked Tree Arts Center, Bayshore West Park Resort Township, Bay Harbor Golf Club, Bear River Valley Recreation Area, Bayfront Park, Petoskey Bayfront Breakwater, Waterfall Area, The Little Traverse History Museum, and East Park. Petoskey is the largest city in the county and is served by U.S. Routes 31 and 131. It is also home to North Central Michigan College.
