Kremenets is a large municipality and a famous tourist spot, located in the northern part of Ternopil Province in the western Ukraine. The town is a very popular pilgrim destination points since there are plenty of churches and monasteries, inducing a very famous local monastery, Pochayiv Monastery, considered to be one of the largest in the country, with the importance close to the one of Pechersk Monastery in Kiev. Kremenets has a long history, with plenty of tragic pages in it written during the times of the World War II, when Nazi soldiers killed almost all members of quite crowded local Jewish community. The current population of the town is close to 20 thousand people, including quite a large Polish community. Kremenets is also known for its wonderful large botanical gardens.
