It was released on March 31, 1999 (United States), achieved great success, won 4 Academy Awards, and grossed $465.3 million worldwide. The film follows Neo, a computer hacker who "is drawn into a rebellion against the machines" along with mysterious rebels. The Matrix was mainly filmed at Fox Studios in Sydney.
