Williams, Joshua Leonard, the film was released on July 14, 1999 (United States) and earned $248.6 million worldwide. The Blair Witch Project was mostly shot in Seneca Creek State Park in Montgomery County, Maryland. Additional filming took place in the historic town of Burkittsville.
