Vicksburg is a city in western Mississippi, USA, located at the intersection of the Mississippi River and Yazoo River. It is the seat of Warren County. The city's nicknames are "Gibraltar of the Confederacy" and "Red Carpet City of the South". It was founded in 1811, named for Newitt Vick, and incorporated on January 29, 1825. There are many points of interest and historic buildings in the city, including Vicksburg National Military Park, Vicksburg National Battlefield, Vicksburg Memorial Stadium, Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum, and Lower Mississippi River Museum as well as a few casinos. U.S. Route 61 and Interstate 20 serve the area.
