The Scottish Seabird Centre is a marine conservation and education center located on the edge of the Firth of Forth, in the small town of North Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland. It was officially opened in 2000, by HRH Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay. The Bass Rock is home to more than 150,000 northern gannets, making it the world's largest colony. The northern gannets, one of the largest species of the gannet family with a 170–180 cm wingspan, arrive there in late February and spend most of the year. The Centre helps people to learn about the marine wildlife and habitats in Scotland, as well as organizes boat trips to The Bass Rock. The Scottish Seabird Centre won several awards including the Queen's Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development and the Green Tourism Gold Award, as well as chosen as Nature Reserve of the Year 2014/15 by BBC Countryfile Magazine.
