South Australia is a southern state of the continent of Australia and the only one state bordering with all 4 other states of the continent as well as the Indian Ocean in its southern part. Geographically, South Australia is located in the south central part of the continent and is one of the two central states of the country. The area of the state is close to 400,000 square miles which makes it one of the smallest states of Australia. Adelaide is the capital and the largest city of the state which can be found in the coastal part of South Australia, in the south eastern region of the state. Other large cities of the state include Gawler, Mount Gambier, Whyalla, as well as the coastal towns of Port Lincoln, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Baird Bay, and a few others.

South Australia has quite a dry climate and is a center of such industries as mining, manufacturing, fishing, etc. Most of the industrial and business areas are located in the southernmost part of the state, along the coastline of the Great Australian Bight. There is a region of plenty of large and small lakes which can be found in the eastern part of the state. South Australia is famous for its numerous natural parks like Simpson Desert Regional Reserve, Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre National Park, Nullarbor Natural Preserve, Yellabinna Natural Park, Tallaringa Natural Park, and a few other large preserves. The state has a very rich cultural heritage and attracts plenty of tourists with its numerous cultural events such as festivals, fairs, celebrations, exhibitions, etc.
