Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden (新宿御苑) is a very popular landmark and a 144-acre park situated in Shinjuku and Shibuya, which are known as business districts of Tokyo, Japan. The garden used to be located near the residence of the Japanese Royal dynasty. The garden was established in the second half of the 18th century and was specially designed as a unique natural area near the palace. Since the middle of the 20th century, it has been a natural park and a facility open to everyone. The area of the garden is about 58 hectares and it is one of the most popular and most visited places to relax and rest. It is estimated that there are over 20,000 trees including about 1,500 Japanese cherry trees grown in the garden. There are a few traditional tea houses in the garden.
