Santuario della Madonna della Bocciola is one of the landmarks of the province of Novarra in Italy. The Sanctuary rises on the hills to the east of Lake Orta in Ameno, in the hamlet of Vacciago. The current composition still has a classical aspect the first construction of the sanctuary, from 1628. The neoclassical facade, in fact, is preceded by a design with four Baveno granite columns to support an element by the architect Giovanni Molli, then completed with the construction of the tympanum only in 1875. Two arched colonnades define the sides, overlooking the interior with two small windows. A large dome dominates the apse which houses a neoclassical white marble altar. Beautiful frescoes were added in the beginning of the nineteenth century. The Sanctuary houses a cycle of 36 "paintings" illustrating episodes from the Old Testament connected with the coming of the Savior and with the figure of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
