Saint Gregory the Illuminator (Surp Krikor Lusavoriç) church is an old Armenian Church situated in the center of the city of Istanbul, in north western Turkey. Built in the 14th - 15th century, the church is one of the oldest and the largest Armenian churches in the city of Istanbul. It can be found in the district known as Galata, in the European side of the city. The church has a distinctive architectural style and is a typical Armenian style church. It was built right before the city of Constantinople became a part of the Ottoman Empire. In modern days it is an operating church and is a fascinating historical monument.
