Library of Celsus is an old historic building preserved from the Ancient Roman times and now located in historic site of Ephesus, which is in western Turkey near the city of Izmir. Ephesus is one of the most popular tourist destinations of the country and annually thousands of tourists come to see the main landmarks of it. The Library was built in the 1st century AD and is named after Celsus, a rich Roman citizen. It is believed that the interior of the library was destroyed by a strong earthquake in the 3rd century, and some front part of the building was destroyed by one more earth quake. There is only a little part of the building preserved and it can be observed by the tourists who visit there. There are sculptures and other decorative elements of the interior preserved.
