Henderson is a small city and part of the Evansville Metropolitan Area in north-central Henderson County, the state of Kentucky, USA. The city was founded at the end of the 18th century, incorporated in 1840, and named after Richard Henderson. It is the seat of the county, located near the border with Indiana, on the Ohio River, and 10 miles south of Evansville. It is a very nice and wonderful place for a family-type vacation. The city hosts many events, including Bluegrass in the Park Folklife Festival. Points of interest in the city are Audubon Museum & Nature Center, John James Audubon State Park, Atkinson Park, Metzger's Tavern, Henderson County Public Library, and Red Banks Park. U.S. Route 41 serves the area.
