Gasherbrum III is a breathtaking tall peak and a part of the western Himalayas, situated right at the border between China and Nepal. It is also sometimes referred to as K3a Peak. The elevation of Gasherbrum III is estimated to be of 26,089 feet which makes it the 16th tallest mountain in the world. The peak is a part of the Karakoram massif and it is situated in very close proximity to other tall peaks like Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II, as well as K2 which is the second tallest peak in the world. The mountain is one of the most difficult to climb, and the first successful attempt of ascent was undertaken only in 1975 when a group of Polish mountain climbers managed to reach the peak of the mount. There are a few popular trekking routs passing by the area.
