It hosts basketball, arena football, ice hockey games, professional wrestling, concerts, and other events. The arena is situated next to Sawgrass Mills and 19 miles west of Fort Lauderdale. It has a field size of 872,000 sq ft and a basketball capacity of 20,737. The arena was opened on October 3, 1998, and designed by Ellerbe Becket. It has been the home ground for NHL's Florida Panthers since its opening. The arena hosted many notable artists and bands such as Bee Gees, Celine Dion, Backstreet Boys, U2, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Britney Spears, Harry Styles, Beyoncé, Cher, Lady Gaga, and so on.
