Donbass Arena (Донбас Арена), located at Chelyuskintsiv St, 189E, Donetsk, Donets'ka oblast, Ukraine, is one of the largest and the most modern stadiums in Western Europe. It was opened to the public on 29 August 2009 as a home arena for FC Shakhtar Donetsk, the 2009 UEFA Cup winner. Designed by ArupSport, the arena served as the home ground of Shakhtar Donetsk from 2009 to 2014. The stadium with its capacity of 52,200 was one of the major venues for Euro 2012 games in Ukraine. It was closed in 2014 due to the war in Donbas. Unfortunately, it was also damaged during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
