Dnipro is a large city and industrial center, as well as the capital of Dnipropetrovsk Province, situated in central Ukraine. The city used to be known as Yekaterinoslav and later on as Dnipropetrovsk but renamed in Dniepro, just like the name of the river it is located at. It is one of the largest cities in the country and it's crucial economic, industrial, transportation, education, and social center. The city was established about 250 years ago and for many years it used to be under Russian and later on Soviet regimens. However, since 1991 it has been a part of developing and thriving independent Ukraine. Despite the close proximity to the Ukrainian-Russian War in the region of Donbas, Dniepr remains beautiful and touristy places, with plenty of landmarks and places to see like the city's parks, gardens, Dmytro Yavornytsky National Historical Museum, the Church House of Organ and Chamber Music, the Museum of History, Taras Shevchenko Park, the city circus, and many others.
