Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, formerly known as Île Notre-Dame Circuit (1978–1982), is a riverside car racing track in Montreal, Canada, located in Parc Jean-Drapeau, the third largest park in the city. It also features biking, hiking, and rollerblading paths. It was opened on 6 October 1978 and designed by Roger Peart. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is used for the FIA Formula One Canadian Grand Prix. It also hosted the World Sportscar Championship, the Champ Car World Series (CCWS), the NASCAR races, and so on. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is situated 5.5 kilometers east of Downtown Montreal.
