Carlton Gardens is an urban park located at 1-111 Carlton Street in Carlton, an inner-city suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is bordered by Rathdowne Street, Nicholson Street, Carlton Street, and Victoria Street. It is a popular garden containing the Royal Exhibition Building and Melbourne Museum. Royal Exhibition Building hosts the annual Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. Carlton Gardens is home to a tennis club, a basketball court, a movie theatre, and a playground, as well as a few fountains and historical landmarks. Established in 1856, it has an area of 26 ha (64 acres). Carlton Gardens has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004. It is also registered on the Australian National Heritage List and Victorian Heritage Register.
