Amman is the capital and the largest city of the Kingdom of Jordan, located in the west central part of the country. The city can be found about 13 miles north east of the Dead Sea, and it is a part of the famous Levant region in the western Asian continent, also known as the Eastern Mediterranean region. The city of Amman is situated on a small East Back Plateau which is sometimes referred to as the Transjordanian Highlands which can be found slightly to the east of the Jordan River valley. The distance from Amman to the Jordan River is estimated to be close to 25 miles, and the distance between the cities of Amman and Jerusalem is less than 50 miles. The distance from Amman to the Mediterranean sea whores and the city of Tel Aviv is about 70 miles.

The city of Amman is divided into a dozen of smaller districts which are not equal in their size. The largest districts are located to the south and the west of the city center. There are found quite large cities which can be found near Amman, those are the cities of Zarqua, Russeifa, As-Salt, and Madaba. They mark the outskirts areas of the capital city. Other smaller neighborhoods of Amman include the towns of Na'ur, Al Dmenah, Al Bayader, Khilda, Maisloun, Abu Nseir, Basman, Al Amir Hasan, Al Maghaba, Al Sharqi, and many other ones. The city's airport, the Queen Alia International Airport, is located about 11 miles south of the city center. The Dead Sea and the famous natural springs areas like Vadi Al Mujib, Vadi Bin Hammad Resort, and others, situated to the south western part of the city of Amman.
