Amana Colonies consist of seven German villages: Amana, High Amana, East Amana, Middle Amana, West Amana, Homestead, and South Amana. It is located in Iowa County in east-central Iowa, United States. It was built in 1855 by German Radical Pietists. The villages were added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1966, and designated as U.S. National Historic Landmark District on June 23, 1965. Today, the Seven Villages of Amana is a popular tourist attraction in Iowa.
