The town of Watertown is situated in southeastern Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is located north of Waterbury and west of Wolcott, about 30 miles southwest of Hartford. The town was incorporated in 1780. The town center of Watertown is a census-designated place (CDP). It is bordered by Waterbury to the southeast, Thomaston to the east, Bethlehem and Woodbury to the west, Morris to the northwest, and Middlebury to the south. It has a total area of 29.5 square miles. Connecticut Route 63, U.S. Route 6, Route 8, Route 73, and Route 262 serve the town. Points of interest in and around the town include Watertown Historical Society, Nonnewaug Falls, Mattatuck State Forest, Black Rock State Park, Adams Road Park, Sylvan Lake Park, and Lake Winnemaug Boat Launch. The town is home to The Taft School.
