Waterloo, formerly known as "Prairie Rapids Crossing", is a large city in Iowa, United States, located on the Cedar River and 54 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids. It is the seat of Black Hawk County and part of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. Waterloo is also one of the largest cities in the state. It was settled in 1845 and incorporated in 1868. There are lots of attractions in the city such as Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens, Lost Island Waterpark & Adventure Golf & Go-Karts, John Deere Tractor & Engine Museum, Waterloo Center for the Arts, Waterloo Riverfront Stadium, Cedar River Exchange Park, Hope Martin Memorial Park, Tibbitts Park, George Wyth State Park, Sherwood Park, Maple Lanes Bowling Center, and a few golf courses. The city is home to Hawkeye Community College. U.S. Highways 20, 63, and 218 serve the area.
