The city of Palmer is located about 43 miles northeast of Anchorage, north of Chugach State Park, east of Finger Lake State Recreation Site, in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, southern Alaska, United States. It is the seat of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, as well as one of the largest cities in Alaska. It is home to Matanuska-Susitna College and Alaska Bible College. The city annually hosts the Alaska State Fair. The headquarters of The National Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC) is based in Palmer. Palmer Municipal Airport is located in the southeastern part of the city. There is also a heliport in the city center.
