Newmarket is a small town in southern Ontario, Canada, situated 55 kilometers north of Toronto and 70 kilometers northeast of Mississauga. It is the seat of the Regional Municipality of York. It used to be a large and busy industrial center, but starting from the early 1980s, the town started changing into a popular residential area, with excellent accommodation and social life facilities. It was incorporated as a town in 1880. The town is bordered by Aurora to the south, King to the west, East Gwillimbury to the north, and Whitchurch–Stouffville to the east. Southlake Regional Health Centre is one of the top employers in the town. Local attractions include Historic Main Street, Upper Canada Mall, Old Newmarket Town Hall and Courthouse, the Elman W. Campbell Museum, the Newmarket Public Library, Fairy Lake Park, Mabel Davis Conservation Area, Wesley Brooks Conservation Area, Magna Centre, Bonshaw Avenue Park, Newmarket's Riverwalk Commons, and a few gyms.
