Meraux is a small town in the neighborhood of New Orleans in south eastern Louisiana, USA. It is situated between Lake Borgne and the Mississippi River, and has the population close to 10,000 people. The region is notorious for being extremely vulnerable to numerous hurricanes and tornadoes. In particular, in 2010 the Katrina hurricane damaged the town to a great extent. Since then, the population of the town has slightly decreased and now it is about 38 hundred families. The community is friendly and supportive, with some considerable number of Hispanic population living in the town.
