Lake Placid is a village in New York State’s Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, United States. Founded at the beginning of the 19th century, located near Mirror Lake and to the north of the town of North Elba, the village hosted the 1932 and the 1980 Winter Olympics, as well as the 1972 Winter Universiade and the 2000 Goodwill Games. It will also host the 2023 Winter Universiade. Lake Placid has been home to the annual Ironman Lake Placid Triathlon since 1999. North Country Community College is based in the village.
