Corpus Christi is a wonderful coastal city which is located on the Gulf of Mexico in the southern part of Texas. The city is usually called simply Corpus and it is located on the shores of Corpus Christi Bay. The name of the city was given by a group of Spanish settlers who arrived in those territories in the 16th century. Since those times, the city grew from a small settlement into a key cultural and social center of the state. Corpus Christi is often called 'Sparkling City by the Sea' as it is one of the most bustling and modern cities of the coastal region of Texas. With an area exceeding 500 square miles, Corpus Christi is a large urban zone that can be found about 150 miles southeast of San Antonio and about 250 miles southwest of Houston. Corpus Christi International Airport serves the area.

Just like all large cities located along the coastline of the country, Corpus Christi is a busy port and a very important transportation hub of the whole region. The city is the southernmost one of the cluster of the largest cities of the state which includes the cities of Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, and a few others.
