Charles City is a small city in Iowa, United States, situated on the Cedar River in the northern part of the state, 147 miles northeast of Des Moines, and 171 miles south of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is the seat of Floyd County. The area was originally inhabited by the Ho-Chunk people. It was settled by European-American settlers in the middle of the 19th century. The city is home to The Alvin Miller House which is a Usonian home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Located at 1107 Court Street, the house was built from 1946 to 1951. U.S. Route 18 and U.S. Route 218 serve the city. Attractions in Charles City include The Charles City Public Library, American Passenger Train History Museum, Charles City Whitewater, Floyd County Museum, Charles City Art Center, Wildwood Golf Course, and so on. Northeast Iowa Regional Airport is located 3.5 miles east of the city center.
