Since the mid 1880s it used to be a small town in the area, which became a part of Omaha urban zone in the 1960s. Today, there are about 11,000 people living in Chalco. There is a famous recreation area, Chalco Hills park, which is a wonderful recreation zone near Wehrspann Lake.
