Arkansas Post is a small, historic village located on the Arkansas River in Arkansas County, southeastern Arkansas, United States. The site was inhabited by the Quapaw people. The Europeans came to the site at the end of the 17th century. Arkansas Post was the first territorial capital of Arkansas Territory from 1819 to 1821. It was incorporated as a town in 1836. Highway 169 serves the village. Situated at the confluence of two rivers, the Arkansas River and the Mississippi River, Arkansas Post is about 8 miles away from Gillett.
