Acerra is a large town and one of the neighborhoods of the city of Naples situated in the region of Campania, southern Italy. As the historic evidence shows, the town was founded by the Greek settlers who ruled the area before the Roman Times. In the post-Roman times the town used to be a part of a few independent states, as well as the part of the local Kingdoms and Empires. Today it is one of the suburbs of Naples and one of the largest residential districts on the outskirts of the city. Acerra enjoys a wonderful natural setting in a large valley, not far away from the coastal area of the region.
