The Lighthouse is an American-Canadian psychological horror movie directed and produced by Robert Eggers, written by Robert Eggers and Max Eggers. The film follows two lighthouse keepers who try to maintain their sanity while living on a remote island in the 1890s. It was shot in black-and-white and premiered at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival on May 19, 2019. Starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, The Lighthouse was distributed by A24 (United States) and Universal Pictures (International). The film won FIPRESCI Prize at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival (Robert Eggers). The Lighthouse was shot in Leif Erikson Park in Cape Forchu, Nova Scotia as well as at Yarmouth International Airport in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
