Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tilda Swinton, Virginie Ledoyen, Guillaume Canet, and Robert Carlyle, the film is set in Thailand and follows the story of a young backpacker. The Beach was shot on the Thai island of Ko Phi Phi Le (เกาะพีพีเล). Filming also took place in Phuket and Bangkok, Thailand.
