Stalker (1979) Locations
Stalker (Russian: Сталкер) is a 1979 Soviet science fiction philosophical and psychological film directed by Andrei Tarkovsky, written by Andrei Tarkovsky, Boris, and Arkady Strugatsky, and based on the 1972 novel Roadside Picnic by Boris and Arkady Strugatsky. The film follows a guide who leads two clients through a mysterious area known as the Zone to find a room that grants a person's wishes. Starring Alisa Freyndlikh, Aleksandr Kaydanovskiy, Anatoliy Solonitsyn, and Nikolay Grinko, the film was released on May 1979 in Moscow. Stalker was shot in different countries such as Russia, Estonia, and Tajikistan. The central part of the film took place at two deserted hydropower plants near Tallinn, Estonia. Filming locations included Lasnamäe and Maardu in Estonia.
