Directed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, and written by Adolph Green and Betty Comden, the film stars Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor, Debbie Reynolds, Jean Hagen, Millard Mitchell, and Cyd Charisse. It was nominated for 2 Academy Awards: Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Jean Hagen) and Best Music, Scoring of a Musical Picture (Lennie Hayton). The film also won an award at the 1953 Golden Globes for "Best Actor - Comedy or Musical" (Donald O'Connor). Singin' in the Rain was shot in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios in California. Filming also took place at Grauman's Chinese Theatre (TCL Chinese Theatre), an iconic theatre located on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Hollywood.
