Starring Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine, George Sanders, Judith Anderson, Nigel Bruce, Reginald Denny, C. Aubrey Smith, and Gladys Cooper, it was Hitchcock's first American film. The film follows the story of aristocratic widower Maxim and his second wife who tries to avoid being intimidated by his first wife's constant presence in their lives. It was released on April 12, 1940, won 2 Oscars including "Best Picture". Rebecca was shot at Selznick International Studios in Culver City, California, USA. Filming also took place in Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, California, USA.
