Malèna is a 2000 historical romantic comedy-drama film directed and written by Giuseppe Tornatore, based on a story by Luciano Vincenzoni. Starring Monica Bellucci, Giuseppe Sulfaro, Luciano Federico, Gabriella Di Luzio, Matilde Piana, Pietro Notarianni, and Gaetano Aronica, the film won the Grand Prix at the 2001 Cabourg Film Festival and nominated for two Oscars and Golden Globes. It follows a teenage boy who becomes obsessed with Malèna, a beautiful woman living in a little Sicilian town. Malèna was shot in different parts of Sicily, Italy such as Syracuse, Messina, and Trapani.
