Starring Al Pacino, Hilary Swank, Robin Williams, Martin Donovan, Maura Tierney, Nicky Katt, and Paul Dooley, the film premiered at the Tribeca Festival on May 3, 2002, and was released on May 24, 2002 in the US, and grossed $113.8 million worldwide against a $46 million budget. Insomnia was shot in various places in British Columbia, Canada. The aerial photography took place in Alaska. The Seaplane landing scene was filmed in Woodfibre, British Columbia.
