Spokane is a large city located in the state of Washington, in the northwestern United States. It lies in the eastern part of the state, near the border with Idaho, and is an inland city. Originally a small commercial town, Spokane has developed into one of the key shipping and commercial centers of the region, with a diverse economy that includes manufacturing and other industries. The city is also a cultural hub, offering numerous museums, theaters, galleries, cinemas, and recreational and sports facilities.

Covering nearly 70 square miles, Spokane is one of the largest cities in eastern Washington. It is situated in a broad valley along the Spokane River, on the western edge of the Rocky Mountain region. The surrounding landscape is scenic, with several national forests nearby, including Colville, Kaniksu, and St. Joe National Forests.

Spokane, along with neighboring communities such as Spokane Valley, Country Homes, and Glenrose, forms a large and modern metropolitan area. The city is located approximately 230 miles east of Seattle, 290 miles northeast of Portland, and about 260 miles northwest of Helena, Montana’s capital.
